The Bertie High School Art Club is on a quest to increase student interest, awareness and
appreciation for art and art careers, by providing an avenue through which hands-on
experiences may be gained.
In an effort to encourage and grow the level of creative expressions within our school
community, students are being invited to join the Bertie High School Art Club. Interested
individuals will have the opportunity to engage in various creative projects during and after
school.
This interaction should; help deepen students’ understanding of Visual arts and the creative
process, guide students in making informed esthetic judgments, and support students as they
gain manipulative and organizational skills through their own creative practice.
Art Club Meetings will be held in room 239, on Mondays, beginning at 3:15 PM.
We look forward to seeing you there.
History: The FFA was founded in 1925 by agriculture teachers at Virginia Polytechnic Institute as the Future Farmers of Virginia. In 1928, it became a nationwide organization and was renamed the Future Farmers of America. The name was changed to the National FFA Organization in 1988 to reflect the growing diversity of agriculture.
Membership: Anyone can join the FFA, but to hold the office of president or vice president, students must be enrolled, or have enrolled, in an agriculture course.
Programs: The FFA offers middle and high school students 24 national career development events. These events challenge members to apply their leadership and/or agricultural skills in real-world situations.
Benefits: The FFA helps students develop leadership and personal growth skills, and prepares them for careers in agriculture, business, and technology.
FCCLA- Family Career and Community Leaders of America
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national
Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family
and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private schools
through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and
opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since
1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families,
careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and
societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
The work of FCCLA helps students and teachers focus on various youth
concerns, including parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer
pressure, sustainability, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career
preparation. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to
expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal
setting, problem-solving, decision making, and interpersonal
communication—necessary in the home and workplace. In addition,
through FCS education, FCCLA members learn real world skills that are
transferable to any career pathway they choose.
Language Club was designed with the students of Bertie County in mind. Founded during the 2023-2024 school year by Mrs. Ramirez and co-lead by Miss Andrews, Language Club is a vibrant and welcoming space where students who are passionate about learning new languages and exploring different cultures come together.
The club offers a variety of educational and energetic activities designed to help students practice and improve their language skills outside of the classroom in a relaxed and supportive environment. Students practice a variety of languages (Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages to come) and delve into various cultures by way of language exchange sessions, international food, music sessions, and so much more.
In essence, Language Club is not just about learning to speak another language; it's about building a community of curious and motivated individuals who are eager to broaden their horizons and learn from those around them. Although most members of the club are students, we invite all community members to join in on all of the fun that we have in Language Club!
The BHS yearbook club will focus on the construction of the yearbook for the 2024-2025 school year. The activities members will be responsible for include taking pictures, drawing layouts, cropping photographs, writing and typing copy, and selling advertisements and yearbooks.
